Movies have been a big part of my personality since starting university and it all started from a scratch poster. I got increasingly excited for each new movie to scratch off as it was like an achievement. With each passing year, I would start tracking my new movies watched and in 2023, I started rating each new film.
Coincidentally, I also started my MA in Visual Communication in October 2023 and throughout the year, I managed to watch new films whenever I had the chance. It helped that for my final project, I had to watch quite a few horror films and after finishing in September 2024, I decided to break down the films into different categories.
My influence was Spotify Wrapped and Apple Replay since each year, it seems to break down statistics in new palatable ways and the backgrounds are unique in colour palettes and textures.
I applied this to my data with spray paints scanned into the computer and digitally edited to the green and purple colour palette consistent throughout the project.
This was a passion project that will hopefully continue as a yearly rewind of my movie watches.
