Often, I try and incorporate my own photography into my designs so that it feels more authentic. The initial 3 front prints were designed just as poster prints to show off different typefaces and create a brutalist-inspired print using photos from my time living in the States. Vision, perception and escape are the three words associated with my brand, so by making prints with the words as the vocal points, I can reinforce that idea to people consuming my art.
As the project developed, I realised the prints could work as vinyl covers instead. I made back prints in the same vein as the front, whilst continuing to use new typefaces and similar imagery. To tie it all together, I created vinyl stickers for each of the three albums - double-sided and with additional song names. Using die cuts, I cut out my mock-up vinyl stickers and tested them out to size on a real vinyl to gain a sense of what they would look like if it was a real vinyl.
Finally, I mocked up the covers and vinyls digitally to see the final product together. It's the first time I have experimented with trying out my designs as vinyls, and I would love to test out making some more now, seeing the end result.
